Rick's Voice
Over the years, my work has given me more than a livelihood. It has given me a public platform, and I've come to see that platform as something to steward responsibly. That means using whatever influence I have gained not only to support organizations financially, but also to advocate for ideas and causes I believe in. Sometimes that means producing a television special, writing a book, supporting a ballot campaign, serving on a board, or simply lending my voice to a public conversation.
That doesn't mean weighing in on every issue. It means being thoughtful about where my voice can be useful and where I may be able to help move something forward. Whether the issue is hunger, public libraries, tax fairness, criminal justice reform, or access to culture, I've come to believe that citizenship isn't a spectator sport. When there is a meaningful opportunity to contribute, I feel a responsibility to do so.
