Watch with Patricia Fannon — Verona, Padova, and Ravenna

This event was recorded on August 4, 2025.

In Venice's shadow, Verona, Padova, and Ravenna offer much of the charm of their world-famous neighbor — and far fewer crowds. With guide Patricia Fannon in the lead, we revisit these great cities in Rick's 2014 TV episode, "Italy's Verona, Padova, and Ravenna." We start in the spirited university town of Padova (Padua), home to Europe's first great anatomy theater. Then it's on to fair Verona, where we discover a wealth of Roman ruins, intimate enotecas, and one very romantic balcony. We cap our journey in Ravenna — the most western outpost of the Byzantine Empire — beneath its glittering mosaics.
