Season's Givings Nonprofit Recipients

Since 2022, our annual Season’s Givings holiday event has invited travelers to join in two great Rick Steves’ Europe holiday traditions: supporting nonprofits that work for the common good and resolving to connect across cultures on a Rick Steves tour in the coming year.

During the holiday season, travelers who book a Rick Steves tour are prompted to select a nonprofit organization to support, and we donate $100 on their behalf. To date, thousands of travelers have helped us raise over $1,500,000 supporting eight organizations doing important work in the world.

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) was founded in 1920 and is our nation's guardian of liberty. The ACLU works in the courts, legislatures, and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to all people in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international organization that provides medical care to the people who need it most. MSF cares for people affected by conflict, disease outbreaks, disasters, and social exclusion in more than 70 countries.

Fund for Education Abroad

The Fund for Education Abroad provides scholarships and ongoing support to undergraduate students with financial need who face barriers to participation in education abroad. Less than 6 percent of US college students study abroad, largely due to financial barriers. Founded in 2010, FEA works with partners around the world to make life-changing international experiences accessible by supporting students before, during, and after they participate in education abroad programs.

HIGH BEAM Foundation

HIGH BEAM Foundation is dedicated to helping underserved high school students cultivate the will and the way to earn a college degree. The unique program kicks off with international travel and uses the transformational power of travel to set the stage for the other phases of the program, which include mentorship in self-awareness, time management, communication, personal finance, and college preparedness. 

Rick Steves’ Europe Climate Smart Fund 

Each year, Rick Steves’ Europe invests in a portfolio of carefully selected nonprofits that fight climate change through government advocacy and on-the-ground work. Our goal is to pay our fair share of the environmental cost our travelers incur and to do so in a way that empowers communities throughout the developing world.

Teens of Color Abroad

Teens of Color Abroad (TOCA) provides students of color with global language learning and cultural exchange programs. With only 5 percent of university students in study abroad programs identifying as Black or African American and only 2 percent of US high school students studying abroad, TOCA works to break down the financial and societal barriers that prevent our youth from accessing international opportunities.
